- Title: Panama Patchwork Revisited. The Maduros & their Postcards

Published privately in 1998 this book still stands as the ultimate reference guide to the Maduro company and their postcard views. Maduro published and sold 1000's of different postcard scenes of the Republic of Panama, and the Canal Zone. This labour of love by Bob and Brad filled a gap in postcard collecting perfectly. 240 pages printed in B&W, a limited print run means it is rare, however PDF versions are available if you search on the title.

First published in 2002 (in Spanish) to align with the Centenary of the Republic of Panama. A beautiful work of 187 pages by Vicente Pascual, highlighting multiple aspects of the country in its founding and fledgling years. Fantastically bound and structured using a range of high quality paper stocks. Illustrated, using many of Vincente's vast postcard collection in striking colour. Still available online, Not cheap, but a work of love and a work of art.

Historic reference book 270 pages., published in 1985. Printed on gloss paper in B&W showing ships in transit from the start of the canals opening in 1914 moving through to the1930's. Starting with a detailed story of the canal build it then splits into three sections of photos showing vessels in transit, all reproduced from the original glass plate collection of Ernest Hallen (the canals official photographer). 1. Naval Ships and Military Transports 2. Passenger Ships and Yachts 3. Cargo Ships and Work Craft Each view has an accompanied detailed description of the vessel and transit. Written in an informative style, full of interesting facts. I have two copies, because I've worn out my first one. If you like maritime history, and like the Panama Canal this is the book for you. Written by an expert in Latin American Aviation Dan Hagedorn. Published in 1995, 208 pages. Printed on gloss paper in B&W. Dan served 4 years on the Isthmus and this is a detailed reference book collated from years of his research. The story of Sixth Air Force, in the Canal Zone from the early days of the to the end of WWII. It lists history, airfields, aircraft types. accidents, operational plans and much more. If you want to discover facts such as how the USAAF acquired the Junkers Ju52 (known as the C-79 in USAAF service) or detail on the one off Boeing XB-115 heavy bomber stationed in the Canal Zone this is your book. No longer in print, but occasionally appears. Its rare, so you will pay top $, but there is stuff in here that you will not find anywhere else. Dan has also penned other excellent books that touch on Canal Zone Aviation such as 'Panama Canal Defenders' and 'Douglas DC3/C47 in Latin American Service'.
